This song came about after everyone started saying “Becca but all you do is write horribly depressing lyrics” and I realized they weren’t wrong. So, in the dead of Montreal winter, I set out to change that. Hold Me Close was, without doubt, incredibly fun to write. And, in the process I was lucky enough to work with two wonderful collaborators: Aubreylyn and Julien.

We wrote, recorded, and mixed this song over the span of a single week during the graveyard studio shift (midnight to 4am). For a week straight, the three of us would come to the back studio entrance, the steel soundproof door would open, and we would find ourselves in the holy grail of recording studios.

Fun fact: this is my favourite bridge that I’ve ever written ;P
